Who I am

Luca

I am Luca Orsi. I live in Umbria, Italy. The green heart of Italy.

This site area is in english as it is worldwide-oriented. I want to share little pieces of my life and experience in ict knowledge here. A kind of techno-blog. And it must be in English, of course.

Since my childhood, computer has been my passion. Before I bought my first computer, I learned basic and when the Vic 20 arrived, I already knew how to deal with it. At University of Perugia, school of Engineering, where I have never graduated :-( I've learned Pascal and had first contact with x86 and Windows world.

At a certain point of my life I had to stop University, I ran out of motivation and I began to follow family business in tourism. We started up a Hotel with Restaurant and I've managed it for more than 10 years. Cooking is one of my passion. Cannoli here.

I am a Linux enthusiast since 1900s. Linux became my first choice for everyday use, since 2002 (Debian Woody). At the time I couldn't stop windows from dialing somewhere in the world, thanks to a dialer virus. And it was not so easy at the time, with Linux. But believe me, there are very few things you cannot do with linux today, and it is much more safe, time-saver, flexible, cost-saving than Windows and Mac.

I started my travel inside ICT as student in Cisco CCNA and Comptia security+ courses, but let me say that the most important step in ICT and in Open source is the self-learning capacity. When things arrives into the books, they have been already surpassed in pc's real world.

Someone said "Stay hungry, stay foolish". Well, he is not an example for me for many reasons, but stay hungry of knowledge makes you a good ICT expert.

After being teacher in Linux and Security courses I started my career in ICT division of private companies, and it was a dream for me to use the open source os and software to provide services for users and customers.

I also had several experience as Forensic Consultant for Procurators Investigations. At the moment I am managing a complex network environment in a major company in energy sector.

I am the dad of Matteo and Federico. You find me on social network, of course, but I am using them rarely now. On my photo there's a link to my twitter.
